A warm breeze kissed her plumage. Instinctively, she leapt into the air spreading her mighty wings. Ascending higher and higher, she soared effortlessly over the clouds. Her heart beating intensely with a feeling she had never truly experienced before. Freedom.
Personal project. I had joked in Facebook about not knowing whether it was a male or a female due to the pose, but as I worked on it, I decided it is a female, hence the text. I made it thinking about this being her first flight. As a hatchling she would only have flown close to the ground, now her strong wings can take her to the skies.
This is a "juvenile" version of the hatchling I drew with the Jaguar warriors a while ago. Its anatomy is inspired by Todd Lockwood's dragons & mixed with Quetzalcoatl. The coast is inspired by the Mayan coast nearby Tulum (Mexico). I plan to draw more of these in the future. Senpai Lockwood will notice me one day...
